Whether you are looking for a little extra help around the house, some friendly conversation at the end of the day, or the peace of mind that comes with not living alone, the choice to open your homes makes a real difference.

Home share may be right for you if:

You like helping others, value connection, kindness, and reciprocity

You need a little help around your home to be able to live independently

You value home life and are considerate and respectful with how other people choose to live their lives.

Before we find a home share match, we take the time to learn about your lifestyle, interests, preferences and experiences. We then work with you to set goals for what you would like to achieve within the Life Shared program. Family members and/or a trusted guardian are very welcome to be part of this process.

Once you decide you want to become a Home Provider, the next step would be to discuss what types of support that you might need from the 10 hours available each week. The types of support can be modified weekly, depending on your needs and your Home Companion’s schedule.

Our home share arrangement does not include personal assistance, so the support from your Home Companion may simply be complementary to other services that you already have in place.

Safety

At Life Shared, our matching process is designed with care, safety and compatibility at its core. We take the time to get to know both Home Providers and Home Companions - their lifestyles, preferences, expectations and support needs, to ensure each match is as successful and harmonious as possible.

They must be able to demonstrate that they live the Life Shared values of connectedness, kindness and reciprocity. From this pool of carefully vetted applicants, we select a shortlist of potential, compatible companions for you.

Support

All of the Life Shared home share agreements comply with the Aged Care Quality Standards guidelines. Although this is not required of us, we have adopted this additional level of governance for your, and your family’s peace of mind.Our regular support visits and calls are conducted by aged care professionals who adhere to this framework.

We pride ourselves on delivering case management as part of our service, with the goal of helping seniors remain happily and safely in their home.

Fees

A one-off fee will be required to begin the matching process. Once you are successfully matched with a Home Companion, a monthly fee to Life Shared will be charged to help support you in your home share arrangement.
